We Are Fostering Christian Ideals
in Today’s Youth
Parents
We as parents are the first and most important teachers and role models in the lives of our children. However, many parents today have not recognized that our children cannot just inherit our faith in Jesus Christ and though modeling is extremely important, we must be intentional with teaching the necessity of a personal commitment. For too long the “myth” that modeling Christian behavior (though necessary) without teaching is like the “show without the tell” and often leads to misunderstanding and wild guessing! Showing and telling is an ongoing and intentional process guided by prayer and informed by study, led by the Holy Spirit. The Salt and Light Foundation is dedicated to assisting parents with this spiritual feeding of their “lambs.”
Grandparents
As a grandparent, we have a “second” chance to share the Good News with our grandchildren and often time without the day-to-day stress of making a living and raising children in an ever-demanding world! You are more than a “babysitter” when you take advantage of this amazing opportunity to share your life experiences and how they were influenced by your commitment to Christ. Grandparents serving as full-time parents and guardians may have less time but certainly more opportunity to teach and model Christ’s love. The Salt and Light Foundation programs and activities can assist you with this second chance!
Educators
The Founding Fathers of America never intended for our public schools to be “religion-free zones”, as many have interpreted the law. America’s First Federal Education Law, 1789:
“Religion, morality, and knowledge, being necessary to good government and the happiness of mankind, schools and the means of education shall forever be encouraged.”
Though many educators feel they are under assault today, they are still in the greatest mission field in our country and there is still much they CAN DO! Encouraging, empowering and equipping them for this great ministry is core to the mission of the Salt and Light Foundation.
Churches
Sharing the Good News is the “Great Commission “ of our Christian Churches, however they do not bear the total responsibility. We are all called as missionaries to be Salt and Light wherever God has placed us. Churches can and should actively support the missionary efforts of all the above groups. The Salt and Light Foundation wants to come alongside to support and learn from you in these efforts!
