Mobilizing the Body of Christ for
Intentional Discipleship of Our Youth
Who We Are
The Salt and Light Foundation is a group of Christians who are concerned about the hopelessness, the loneliness, depression and lack of direction being experienced by so many young people in our community and nation today. We come from all walks of life and Christian denominations but all feel called to put our love for Christ in action by “feeding his lambs”. We want to truly be salt and light wherever we are and in whatever season of life we are experiencing. We believe that for too long we have bought into the line that modeling Christian behavior and attitudes is sufficient to bring children and young people to Christ. However, it only takes a quick look around to see that this showing but not telling the Good News and saving grace of Jesus Christ is not working. It is like the game of charades that leaves one wildly guessing and coming up with false conclusions. For our young, showing and not telling has led to false understandings, beliefs and gods which in many cases have resulted in poor choices with tragic ends. We believe it is time we ALL must be “intentional” in our discipleship of the next generation and follow Moses’ directions:
“All these words which I command you today shall be in your heart. You shall teach the diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up. You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.”
Deuteronomy 6: 6-9
